The Oakland Zoo is a zoo located in the Grass Valley neighborhood of Oakland, California, United States. Established in 1922, it is managed by the Conservation Society of California, a 501 non-profit organization dedicated to the conservation of wildlife both locally and globally. The zoo is home to over 850 native and exotic animals. It's recognized for its outstanding animal care, particularly its elephant care program, and for its Leed-certified, 17,000 square foot, state-of-the-art veterinary hospital—the largest wild animal veterinary facility in Northern California. There are many parks located within walking distant to the properties including the Marston Campbell Park which is located one block from the properties and is an excellent family park offering a playground and picnic areas.

Easy access to Interstate 980 is located within a half mile from the properties.

Airports can be a nuisance, but the Oakland International Airport (OAK) does a great job of making it a pleasant experience. The Oakland International Airport is located 9.60 Miles from Oak Center Homes.



The West Oakland Senior Center is located at 1724 Adeline Street, a few blocks west of Oak Center Homes. The Center offers a wide variety of activities and events.

DeFremery Recreation Center, housed in a historic Victorian style building in the heart of West Oakland at 1651 Adeline Street, offers many cultural, educational, and recreational programs for youth and teens. Popular programming includes the African Dance class and Summer Day Camp. Serving as one of the few recreation centers with a swimming pool, deFremery also features tennis courts, basketball courts, softball field, skate park, and a rentable space for meetings and weddings.

The Paramount Theatre, an Art Deco theater opened in 1931, now hosting ballet and symphony performances, plus classic movies. Located at 2025 Broadway.
